Twelve

Turning twelve is bittersweet for this Momma.

How in the world did my baby turn twelve?  Why does it go so fast?  And yet...thank you God for twelve years.  Thank you for this child who makes us laugh, who drives us crazy, who has started with the typical "teenager"moodiness.  Thank you for his work ethic, for his generousity, for him still needing hugs and kisses.  Thank you for his passion, whether it is baseball, fishing, basketball, or surfing...Thank you Lord for these twelve years.

I so look forward to the man he is becoming.
Happy Birthday Logan, who first made me a mother.  My love for you runs deeper than the sea.

Is it just me?

Is it just me or are more and more bloggers telling the truth?
I love that it's not just about decorating or organizing the spice rack anymore.
It seems that the facade is over...and I'm glad for it.
Not everyone can do everything, and if you can, great!
I love the stories of honesty the best.

My favorites of the week:
Beth
Paige
Sarah
and especially Tara's.

Yes, we are all so different.  We all have a story.  And it is all a beautiful mess.
Have a blessed weekend friends.

I made something...

I'm slowly, but surely, getting my creative mojo back.
Inspired by this pin,  I found this spare piece of scrap wood in my garage and painted my own version.

This is our master bedroom.  It is meant to be gray and white, very soothing, with pops of color and whimsy.  I'm working on the pops of color and whimsy :)

The wood was already very weathered.  After painting it I did a light sandpapering and made the little pendant banner with some cute birdie fabric I've been holding on to.

Next...toying with some new ideas for my etsy shop.
We'll see what happens.  :)

Fashion Help

Ashton took this instagram of me last night.

Yes, I am a dork and I was wearing my Big Bang Theory  shirt.
(my favorite tv show right now)

I've been wanting to participate in What I Wore Wednesday for the longest time.
If you've never heard of it, it's a weekly link party that shows your outfit choices for the week.

Since I've been pregnant, nursing, or generally busy taking care of young children all day for the last few years, I had gotten into a bad habit of hair in a ponytail, no make-up, and either work-out clothes or a t-shirt and jeans get up most days.  I've decided I'm ready to start looking my own personal best and having fun with "getting ready" for the day.  WI WW is a great bloggy idea for some inspiration.

I'd like to start investing in some really beautiful clothes and jewelry that not only make me feel comfortable and fashionable,  but that also benefit a good cause.  I'm looking at some jewelry accessories from The Noonday collection.  I would LOVE some advice or direction on any clothing or jewelry companies that are Christian based or or designed to help others in some way.

Thanks in advance!  I can't wait to see some of your suggestions :)

(April) 10 on 10

I love documenting 10 on 10.
Once a month on the tenth taking a photo an hour for ten consecutive hours. Finding much life and beauty among the ordinary things of our day!

1.  breakfast of oatmeal, strawberries, and walnuts
2.  love the light when I make our bed
3.  working on self-portraits with Kindergarten kiddos
4.  unloading from the grocery store
5.  lunch made from leftover easter eggs
6.  chore time:  watering the plants
7.  dusting the piano
8.  working on a custom order
9.  spending four hours in the ER and thankfully coming home without any fractures, just some bad bruising
10.  so tired after that trip I missed the 10th shot :)

Go to a bit of sunshine to learn more about 10 on 10.

She's six and more precious than ever :)

When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five,
I was just alive.
But now I am Six,
I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.

Anybody out there?...

Hello friends!
I've been gone quite awhile now...and to tell the truth entering back in is a lot more difficult than I ever would have imagined!
My whole daily schedule changed when I wasn't blogging for Lent.  I never realized how time-consuming it is!  I got so much done while I was gone.  I even had time to become an avid reader again!  :)

However, here I am!  I missed my regular updates on my kids.  I think my friends and family did too.  Whenever I would see someone, they would say, "I don't know what's going on with y'all now that you've stopped blogging!"
I also missed the camaraderie and inspiration that blogging brings me because of all of you!
***************************************************************************

It will probably take me awhile to catch up on everything that has happened over the last couple of months.
I have focused a lot of my creative energies on doing things around the house.
I've been saving my pennies for a long time to buy a new bedroom set and mattress for my husband and I, and I finally was able to do it.
I wanted to make a piece of art for our room that was just for us, so here it is in the beginning stages.
Our wedding song is "Forever and Always", by Shania Twain, and it is kind of the focus of the piece.

Here it is in it's entirety...the canvas is very large and is only about 1/3 done!  :)
I have been enjoying the process of creating it.

So tell me how, how are you?
